What is Keep The Memory?
Keep the Memory is an app designed for people who want to find the position of their deceased loved ones in the cemeteries. The app contains information about the name, surname, date of birth, date of death of the person and precise GPS position of the grave to help people quickly locate the people they love. We worked in collaboration with the Neapolitan local cemeteries asking the permission to use their databases (we used API calls). When not possible, we built our own mock-up databases going to cemeteries gathering data.
What did I learn from this experience?
I worked on the database (coded and gathered data) and talked to people working in cemeteries.
- consulted with the cemetery management to gather data
- went to cemeteries to build custom and partial databases for testing
- got access to a central database of all public cemeteries in the city of Naples
- used API calls to connect to the central database
Attitude in the project
Had the opportunity to work with a wonderful team. Improved my communication and teamwork skills thanks to our enthusiasm. I fought against my shyness and went out of my comfort zone to talk with local actors of the community to collaborate with them. I learned a lot how to communicate with people outside of my team.
